King of Plose info
Trail
Uphill: The start at the dome square escorted by police to Milland where the race begins with a flying start. The trail runs along hiking paths and asphalt road to St.Andrea, continues on the sledging track towards the top station of the cablecar where the fans already expect the riders. The trail continues on the mountain lined dirt road with a wonderful panorama on the dolomites until the finish at the CAI hut. To give to the race more uphill character the last section runs on the exact same path as the CAIDom runs the day after, and demands from the racer every drop of sweat he can give.
Downhill: The trail, starting from the "Telegrafo" plateau at 2550m, runs along the ski slopes of the Plose mountain on partially technical terrain. The first section has a wide range to allow to the large riders field overtaking without any stress. At the top station of the cablecar the second section starts with a mostly technical trail in the woods and runs until the bottom station. From there the trail runs through farmland, partially on asphalt road with some very tricky sections until it reaches Brixen where the sprint to the finish runs along the riverside promenade to the Dome square at 550m.

Story
The name CAIdom comes from the name of the hut the race is starting and the arrival which is the Dome square. The race is a Mountainbike Downhillrace (Freeride) from the highest point above Brixen/Bressanone, the Plose summit (2.576 m) to the dome square (566 m) in Brixen/Bressanone. The race was held for the first time in 2005 when only a bunch of brave Freeriders were speeding towards the valley on the 13km long trail. Since the beginning the number of participants increased continuously: 2008 there were more than 200 racers at the Telegraph-plateau, so the start is called.
2009 saw the introduction of a new challenge
besides the original CAIdom: The Uphillmarathon
domCAI. It takes about 2 hours for the best riders to climb
the 17km long track for 2000 m of difference of altitude. The categories for the races foresee the
single disciplines Downhill and uphill, but as well a combination
category which claims the "King and Queen of Plose".
We wish you all the best and let's meet in Brixen!
Ride on!
